How will you really manage your contingency plans in a crisis?
Over time, organisations develop their Contingency Plans (or whatever they wish to call them) and some are much better than others. Such Plans never become the “finished article.” They need to be kept under review so as to ensure they deal with changing circumstances but once the Plans (which are the strategic, front-end documents) have achieved a certain level of maturity they tend to remain fairly static.
However good a Plan might seem to be, its effectiveness will be sorely tested at the very least, if the constantly changing data (such as personnel details and logistics) is not only not up to date and accessible but also if the communication system is not as it should be when an incident occurs. Indeed, the supposedly excellent Plan might even fail.
Please stand back for a moment and consider not how good your Plans are themselves but how they will operate in practise if an incident occurs and they have to be invoked.

It does just what they said it would...and more!

Some questions you should ask yourself about the robustness of your Plans
in the event of an incident are:- |
How will we really manage our Crisis Management Team? |
How will we simultaneously and efficiently orchestrate and calmly communicate with all our people thereby preventing confusion and ensuring that we bounce back quickly? |
Are we able to do all this locally, nationally or (if necessary) even internationally? |

An outine of what our Battle Baton does
The Battle Baton, our web based application, mechanically processes and controls the essential, dynamic Crisis Management data and improves communications. It will underpin your organisation’s Plans and make them work to their full potential. In a crisis, the Battle Baton will enhance good communications and people management which, despite being of paramount importance, are often ignored.

So, what does our Battle Baton not do? |
For example it does not:
write a Contingency Plan |
analyse risks or |
assist in the mitigation of any such identified risks |
What does the Battle Baton do? |
Briefly, it mechanically processes the ‘Essential Crisis Management’ data which includes:-
CM Team Structuring and communications |
Personnel placement and organisation |
Important IT logistics for ‘home-based” working |
Responsibilities, deputies, staff contact details, tracking of critical and essential staff |
Staff management when alternative working location(s) are required |
Raising the awareness of the organisation’s commitment to contingency planning and everyone’s part in it |
